Gut, wire and Nylon Strung Custom Model Prices

These prices include:

• All solid hardwood construction, with five-sided staved sound boxes. Four sided sound boxes ancient style always also available.

•  Harp necks are three layers of all solid hardwood on larger models, and two or three layers on lap sized and smaller harps.

•  Soundboards are either solid Engelmann Spruce, or hardwood in the case of most wire strung harps.

•  Full sets of Loveland sharpening levers on all strings, on nylon and gut strung single and double strung harps, with Camac  or Truitt levers at additional cost. Camac and Truitt sharpening levers are available at additional cost, currently ( as of 2/9/10), add $3 for each Camac lever, and $8 for each Truitt lever.

•  All custom designing of harp shape and style, and the construction of same. Custom designing of string note range, string spacing and string tension.Custom shaped tuning key of matching hardwood.

•  Full five year warranty on construction and materials, except for strings and hardware.

•  Gut strung harp models are the same prices, plus an extra charge, for gut strings. Please inquire about gut strung prices, for a specific harp size.

• Custom sewn Soft Padded Harp case in your choice of colors.
  These cases are made with a durable, water-resistant, 420 denier nylon with a thick 3/8 "  foam pad and fully lined. The padding is light weight and bump-resistant. The zipper is a heavy-duty nylon with a special closure to keep the zipper away from the harp.
  Our cases have adjustable webbed shoulder straps as well as easy-carry handles and a roomy side pocket.
  Please specify color: royal blue, purple, forest green, teal, gray, maroon, black, or tan.

Actual detailed carving, sculpting, painting and inlay work is at additional cost. I am very good at matching your artistic ideas and desires to match your budget, giving you as much of the 'look' and style, with as much or as lettle of the imagery you have in mind. Complete extra sting set for your custom harp. Each set is price indiviually. Markwood Heavenly Strings, custom makes all my harp strings, with the exception of my gut strings.

Prices include custom harp cases. If you do not wish a soft case included in your order, I will be happy to adjust the price accordingly, just ask !

Small Lap Sized Custom Harps

These small lap sized harps, can be built to be quite compact in size, light in weight, and yet will still have a full rich voice. Any size up to 25 strings, with a note range going down to 'G' below middle 'C', are usually compact enough to travel with, and are a comfortable size to play on your lap.

Mid Sized Custom Harps

Small Floor to Large Floor Custom Sizes

Harp sizes from 32 strings and greater are wonderful to play , having a larger note range, with more bass notes.  My harps in these larger sizes are still quite manageable to move around, due to their quite light weight.  My 36 string harps usually only weight around 18 lbs.  Photos of harps in this size range can be viewed in my Photo Gallery Number Three.

All the features of my double and cross strung harps are the same as described above for my single string band harps. All sizes of my cross and double strung harps can be designed to be strung with either gut or nylon strings. Most sizes can be designed to be wire strung as well. My custom  double wire strung harps can be fitted with Loveland levers at additional cost.
The prices for my cross and double harp models are the same, with the double harps having full sets of Loveland or Camac sharpening levers included in the price. Truitt levers can be installed at additional  cost.

A cross strung harp is like a piano, with the black notes on one side of the harp, crossing through the white notes from the other side. The usual configuration is for what is referred to as a 5/7 type. One side to has 5 notes, ( like the black keys on a piano) and the other to have 7 notes, just like on a piano. But custom note configurations can be custom designed and built, including 6/6, and cross strung harps with full or partial sets of sharpening levers. Just ask !

These model sizes are described by the number of natural notes, with the double harps having two identical sets of strings, and the cross models having all the half notes set between the whole notes. ( Or in the case of a 6/6 cross strung harp, with a mixture of whole and half notes).

The price will vary depending on the number of strings, size, and how much carving or other decoration is desired. The prices for a Lyre with from 10 to 16 strings, is usually from about $1,200, up to about $2,200.
